Temple Grandin is a HBO original film released back in 2010 but I have only gotten the chance to watch it on HBO On Demand recently. Thanks to the on-demand service, I am able to catch up on a lot of movies and TV series that I have missed in the past.
The eponymous film about an amazing autistic woman who obtained a PhD, won 5 Primetime Emmy awards: Outstanding Made for Television Movie, Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special; Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie; Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie; and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. It is also certified 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes — no small feat, by any means.
Sometimes, I wonder if Claire Danes won the leading role in Homeland because of her excellent portrayal of Temple Grandin. Not many pretty actresses can act well. The ex-model has certainly proven herself in Temple Grandin and Homeland.
HBO has definitely done a wonderful community service to promote awareness on Autism while making a thoroughly enjoyable film.
